Central Missouri Speedway season begins Saturday

WARRENSBURG, Mo.—After a successful car show and evening practice session last week, Central Missouri Speedway (CMS) owners Earl and Susan Walls and the track staff are poised to begin the twenty-first year of operations under the CMS moniker this Saturday, April 16.
 
During last week’s car show sponsored by RE/MAX United, attendees viewing the cars voted on their best-appearing vehicle and the results of the ‘best in show’ in all four weekly racing divisions will be unveiled prior to the night’s regularly scheduled events take place as the winners will carry the opening ceremony flags and then be presented with their plaques.

USRA Modifieds, Street Stocks, B-Mods, and Pure Stocks once again make up the weekly race program at CMS. Each week through Labor Day weekend the track will come to life with Pit Gates opening at 4:30 followed by Spectator Gates at 5. Driver Pill Draw Cutoff is 6:15 (no passing points awarded for late-arriving drivers). The Pit Meeting takes place at 6:30, Hot Laps roll off at 7 and Racing begins at 7:30.
 
Weekly admission prices are the exact same as last year: $12 for Adults, $10 for Active-Duty Military w/I.D. and Senior Citizens 65 years and over. Kids ages Six to Twelve years are $5 while children five and under are free. All Pit Passes are $30. Pricing will change for special event weekends during the Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day Sunday night race programs. Drivers are reminded that beginning in 2016, all golf carts and all-terrain vehicles must be registered prior to be used on the speedway grounds. Over the off-season, the track received a new front stretch fence and a new pit-side concessions stand with additional new signage and a few coats of new paint on some of the perimeter buildings. The former front-stretch concessions stand is in the process of being renovated in time for the Memorial Day weekend after-race Karaoke and Barn Party. CMS also welcomes new track maintenance man Todd Johnson to the team this season. All other officials are returning once again this season. All drivers and teams who previously offered to donate side panels and hoods to decorate the barn walls with may bring their donation to CMS any time prior to Memorial Day weekend with drop off to track announcer Sam Stoecklin.
