FOUNTAIN CITY, Wis.—The last month of the 2016 season has been one of suffering for stock car racers and fans! Three rain-outs in a row, followed by the bye week on June 17th means that Mississippi Thunder Speedway has not seen a green, white or checkered flag since May 20th!!

But, finally, that all changed this Friday night with Motor Parts & Equipment Night; and, despite the lengthy time away, the action continues to be hot as the days and nights of the summer continue to get hotter!

ANGST RESUMES WINNING WAYS

Two-Time Mississippi Thunder Speedway Track Champion Josh Angst got the jump of a lifetime at the start of the "Motor Parts & Equipment 25" for the Rivercity Manufacturing USRA Modifieds!

With the drop of the green flag, Angst roared away from the field and opened up an insurmountable lead on the rest of the field.

Second heat race winner Brad Waits returned to action at Mississippi Thunder Speedway with a second heat race win, followed by a strong third-place feature finish behind the #95 of Keith Foss.

HOFER GRABS SECOND FEATURE OF 2016

Defending Centerville Welding & Repair USRA Limited Late Model Track Champion Lance Hofer collected a clean-sweap in the division presented by Big Toy Storage.

After winning the second heat race, Hofer's Ford Powered #11 zipped away from a start on the inside of the front row to become the first two-time feature winner of 2016 in the second-year Ltd Late Model division.

Season opener feature winner Tony Bahr worked past a very fast Shaun Mann to finish second.

MOUDRY CLAIMS ANOTHER

Ben Moudry worked past pole sitter, and first heat race winner, Jackson Hale to take the lead and eventual win of the Black Horse Bar & Grill USRA B-Mod feature.

Defending feature winner, and Wing Dam Saloon & Grill Driver Of The Week recipient, Alex Williamson made a strong charge through the field from his 12th place starting spot, on the outside of the sixth row, but came up just a bit short with a second place finish.

After getting swept into a sheet metal mangling melee early, Ben Anderson held off second heat race winner Shaun Walski to finish third.

OAKES BREAKS BECKER'S DOMINANCE

For the first time of 2016, there was a different car sitting in the Dahl Automotive Victory Lane at the end of the Jailhouse Saloon USRA Hobby Stock feature.

That different car was piloted by a relieved and smiling Jeremy Oakes.

Early race leaders Jordan Becker and first heat race winner Paul Sweazey gave up the lead to Oakes who then held onto the lead as battles for positions raged on behind him. Sweazey held on for second, with Derek Sutton coming from 10th to finish third.

Racing resumes next Friday night July 1st with the 8th Annual Rivercity Rumble!

Green flag competition begins at 5:30 with the Sunshine Refuse Slingshots on the LIGHTNING SPEEDWAY.

Action on "The Big 1/3 Mile" resumes immediately following the 6:40 PM Opening Ceremonies with the first green flag at 6:45 to start on-track action provided by the Rivercity Manufacturing USRA Modifieds, Centerville Welding & Repair USRA Limited Late Models presented by Big Toy Storage, Black Horse Bar & Grill USRA B-Mods, Coordinated Business Systems WISSOTA Super Stocks, redbox+ 600 Mods, & Harmston Trucking MTS Hornets!

Pit gate opens at 4 p.m. and general admission grandstands open at 5. Family-friendly general admission prices continue with all students (23 years old and younger with current valid student ID) and children 17 & under are admitted absolutely free!
