Matt Dotson won the USRA Modified feature.

FULTON, Mo.—Friday night Callaway Raceway near Fulton, Mo., hosted a weekly racing program. The cooler temperature made it an enjoyable evening of racing for both fans and race teams. The fans were treated to some great racing as the track surface was well prepared.

Ryan Middaugh and Robbie Test made up the front row of the USRA Modified feature. Middaugh got the lead with Test in tow. The yellow flew on lap two as Jared Klick spun in turn 2. Test pulled into the pits with a flat tire and did not return to the track after discovering a broken brake rotor.

Racing resumed and again the yellow waved as contact ensued between Ronnie Woods and Scotty Roberts, both were done for the night. The green flag waved and Middaugh again took the point. Middaugh was running the high side with great car control.

Matt Dotson was stalking Middaugh and took over on lap 16. Ryan didn’t give up and on lap 20 he retook the point. On the 23rd circuit disaster happened as Middaugh’s engine expired handing the lead back to Dotson.

Dotson went on to lead the final 3 laps and took the win. Robbie Reed finished second after starting from the tail. Tyler Shaw was third, Patrick Mahnken was forth and Terry Schultz finished fifth.

Racing will continue at Callaway Raceway on July 22nd with the regular classes plus the “Battle of the Badges.” The “Battle of the Badges” is a group of police, sheriffs, deputies, firefighters, correction officers, etc. who wear a badge. They have installed roll cages and other safety equipment into older police cruisers and race to raise money for a particular charity.

All classes will be in action with hot laps slated to start at 7:00.
