COLBY, Kan. (May 7) -- Thirty-seven modifieds checked in for action at the Thomas County Speedway in Colby, Kan., on Sunday, May 7, for the second stop on the 2006 season for the USRA BST Modified Series.

Getting the ultra-fast field of cars down to a field of 24 took four heat races, and the winners of those heats were Eddie Edwards Darren DeLoach, K.B. Murphy and Dustin Daniels.

Four drivers from each of the two “B” mains rounded out the 24-car “A” main field. When the smoke cleared, USRA hot shoe Mark Zorn took his Alliance Trucking #21z to the USRA/BST Bigwestracing.com winners circle, earning him valuable points in the USRA Casey's General Stores Weekly Racing Series points chase.

Jeff Tubbs came home in second while Daniels took the third spot in the winners circle.

Will Brack of Meade, Colo., who finished second in Saturday night's season opener in Goodland, Kan., crossed the finish line first but was disqualified after the race when his car was found to be underweight at the post-race weigh-in.
