Andy Bryant won the Out-Pace USRA B-Mod feature.

KANSAS CITY, Kan.—After a national championship in the Out-Pace USRA B-Mods a year ago, Andy Bryant hasn’t seen as many wins as he had at this time last year. Heading into the races at Lakeside Friday for Crystal Trenching/AMSOIL Night, Bryant was looking to change that stat.

Bryant raced out to the front of the back at the drop of the green flag, and held a slim lead before a yellow flag set up a good three-car battle at the front.

On the restart, Brad Smith slid by Bryant in turn two. Bryant would answer that challenge, but before getting out of turn three, Tim Powell put a charge on the leader.

The three cars went three-wide looking for the top spot.

Another yellow flag came out with five laps to go. When the green waved again it was Bryant, Powell, Smith and Chad Clancy all bunched up and waiting for the race to get going again.

The top four drivers were looking at the win as the green flag waved again. Powell and Bryant battled neck and neck for the lead. Smith was waiting in the wings and Clancy started to fade as they came to the white flag.

On the white flag lap it was a great side-by-side battle with Bryant running the top and Powell the low line. As they came out of turn four for the checkers, Bryant gained the momentum and took the win with a push from Smith. It was another great race at Lakeside Speedway.

Smith finished in the second spot in the end, a close third was Powell, fourth went to Clancy and Luke Nieman finished fifth.

Mark Schafman, a four-time feature winner in the USRA Modifieds, took to the lead early in the "A" Main.

Not only did he take to the lead, he established a big lead as Kerry Davis—the points leader and also four-time feature winner—was trying to run him down.

The top two encountered lapped traffic, and Davis began to close in on the leader.

A yellow flag helped Davis—and the rest of the competition—gain some ground on Schafman.

When the race fired back up, Schafman began to change his line that put him in the top spot. Schafman’s car didn’t handle like Davis’ and Davis took over the lead as he went by Schafman.

Now it was Davis that put distance on the rest of the field. Each lap Davis increased his lead all the way to the checkered flag as he sprinted to win number five on the year and added more cushion to his points lead.

The runner-up spot went to Schafman, Tyler Wolf came home in third, Nic Bidinger finished fourth and rounding out the top five was Matt Dotson.

Kerry Davis won the USRA Modified feature.

Justin Seifert and Steve Herrick brought the field to the green in the Holley USRA Stock Car main event.

Seifert held on to the lead at the end of the first lap, but the points leader, Brett Heeter, was on a strong run. Working lap two, Heeter worked around the outside of Herrick to pull next to Seifert. As the two exited turn two, Heeter was at the point.

From that lap on, Heeter extended the lead as he showed his power on the night. He was not challenged and picked up the win to extend his points lead.

Trevor Hunt, second in points, finished in the runner-up spot, Seifert finished third, fourth went to Chad Walker and Lucas Conley raced his way to the fifth spot.

Brett Heeter won the Holley USRA Stock Car feature.
