Merritt fends off Moore at North Central Arkansas Speedway

Week two of the 2017 race season at North Central Arkansas Speedway took to the track with nearly ideal race weather for fans and drivers alike.

Rex Merritt paced the field to the starting flag of the Out-Pace USRA B-Mod feature event with Robbie Ewing outside row one.

Merritt moved to the front exiting turn two with Ewing in close pursuit on the opening lap and the top two cars started to pull away from the rest of the pack.

Taylor Moore had problems in his heat race that forced him to start at the rear of the feature race but Moore found the cushion and soon began to march towards the front of the field.

Lap 13 saw Moore closing in on Ewing as Moore continued his charge towards the front, and on lap 15 Moore moved past Ewing to claim second.

Merritt gained a little ground on his pursuers as they fought over second but as soon as Moore cleared Ewing he had his sights set on the leader.

Moore made several attempts to get past Merritt for the lead racing alongside the leader for position on lap 18 but the veteran Merritt was able to fend off the challenges and claim the feature win.

Racing action continues this Friday night, April 21, with five classes of racing action. Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and those with a military ID, $5 for those ages 7-15 with 6 and under getting in free. A family plan is $25 for two adults and their family members 15 and under.
