Lucas Oil Speedway received cooperation from Mother Nature last weekend and looks for another sunny Saturday for the return of the Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series.

NMI/VMG Marketing Group and Wild Animal Safari team up to present this week's program, featuring all four Big Adventure RV Weekly Racing Series classes: Warsaw Auto Marine & RV ULMA Late Models, Pitts Homes USRA Modifieds, Big O Tires Street Stocks and Ozark Golf Cars USRA B-Mods.

The USRA Modifieds will be running a special 25-lap, $750-to-win feature as the weekly classes look to race for the first time since the Spring Nationals finale on April 15. Two straight rain-outs followed and that makes it difficult to build any early season momentum.

"Rain-outs are not only bad of the drivers, but they're also bad for the fans," USRA Modified driver Jason Pursley of Hermitage said. "Rain-outs are hard on everyone involved. I know as a racer, we kind of have a routine we go through."

Pursley, for instance, finished second his last time out at Lucas Oil Speedway on April 15 and was eager to carry on that momentum. He's second in the points chase, trailing three-time reigning track champion Jeff Cutshaw of Bolivar by 31 points.

"That last race we changed some stuff on Saturday after not running very good on Friday night," Pursley said. "The car was really, really good. Hopefully we went in the right direction. But then came the two rainouts. That just kind of makes things difficult. You want to get back to the track the next week, especially after a good run.

"We'll be glad to get back this week."

Kris Jackson is the early points leader in the Out-Pace USRA B-Mods.
