USRA divisions highlight weekend races at Thunderhill Speedway

MAYETTA, Kan. -- Thunderhill Speedway will return to action this Saturday, September 9 with four exciting classes hitting the speedway, including USRA Modifieds, USRA Stock Cars and USRA Hobby Stocks. The number of Point Races are winding down, and a number of drivers are gearing up for the final stretch run as they look to improve their status in both the National and Track Standings.

In the USRA Modified division, Travis Patch maintains a solid grip on the track point standings with a 208 point lead over second place Bill Robison. Robison, like Patch, has a large lead over the next competitor. Despite the distance between the top two, the drivers in third through fifth; Steven Bowers Jr., Matt Stallbaumer, and Jeff Herbers are separated by only 83 points. In the National Standings, Travis Patch holds down the third spot, only 94 points behind the top driver. Steven Bowers Jr. sits in the ninth spot nationally, and Bill Robison runs in the 16th spot.

Leif Weyer continues to maintain a slim 50 point lead over youngster Kyle Covert in the USRA Stock Car class. Only five points behind Covert is Eric Weyer, twin brother to Leif Weyer. Tony Noll Jr. and Marvin Griffith Jr. are a distant fourth and fifth. None of the drivers are currently in the top 25 of the National Standings.

The USRA Hobby Stock division has been dominated this season by Waylon Banks, and his point lead reflects just that. Banks trailed Tim Patch in the standings early in the season, but now holds a lead of nearly 150 points. Patch is well ahead of his nearest competitor in second, but the third place through fifth place competitors are only separated by 19 points. Brian Stich, 2005 Champion Brian Labonte, and Jesse Shotts will all battle in the final weeks to improve their standings. In the National Standings, Waylon Banks has moved into sixth, Brad Labonte is 11th, Tim Patch is 14th, Jesse Shotts is 21st, Brian Labonte is 23rd, and Brian Stich is 25th.

This Saturday's events are scheduled to kick of with hot laps at 7pm and races at 7:30.
