Central Missouri Speedway officially closed its 2017 race season last weekend by crowning its champions in each of the weekly race divisions. This year, 280 drivers competed at CMS during weekly competition. Between the weekly, guest classes and special-events racing, a total of 327 races were held throughout the year, among these races were 82 feature events in which 34 different drivers claimed at least one main-event victory.

The season now closed will go down in history as one of the most exciting seasons in the track’s history. The average car count for the season was 90 across 20 race nights. There were 22 USRA Modifieds present on average throughout the year while Out-Pace USRA B-Mod drivers came out in full force with an average of 24 drivers on hand each week.

A total of 78 different drivers participated in Out-Pace USRA B-Mod action at CMS this year. There were fivedifferent main event winners. Oak Grove, Mo.’s Jacob Ebert claimed his fourth consecutive title by finishing in the top five on 14 occasions during 16 race nights. Ebert claimed four main event wins on his way to his latest championship over LaMonte, Mo.’s Cody Frazon, who was this season’s most improved driver. This year’s Out-Pace USRA B-Mod Rookie of the year is Jacob Callahan.

However, there are chances for the winning driver to walk away with either $1200 or $1,500 depending on a count of 24 cars and a random draw.

Ten years after first capturing a feature win at Central Missouri Speedway, Jim Moody of Odessa, Mo., became a first-time CMS champion and ruled this year’s USRA Modified action. Moody visited victory lane five times and notched 11 top-five finishes in 16 starts to outpace Edgerton, Kan., driver—and this year’s most improved driver—Dalton Kirk, who finished second.
