Terry Phillips of Springfield, Mo., captured the $2,000 top prize in the Keith's Foods Late Models.

MEMPHIS, Mo. -- Qualifying for the second night of the Pizza Hut Fall Nationals at the Pepsi Scotland County Speedway was put into the books on Friday night with Terry Phillips of Springfield, Mo. (Keith's Foods Late Models), Darin Duffy of Hazleton, Iowa (Bentz GM Country USRA Modifieds), Zack VanderBeek of New Sharon, Iowa (USRA Stock Cars), Tony Dunker of Quincy, Ill. (Advance Trading USRA B-Modifieds), Nathan Wood of Keswick, Iowa (USRA Hobby Stocks), Michael St. Clair of Kahoka, Mo. (Outlaw Hobbies) and Dale Porter of Floris, Iowa (Hornets) picking up qualifying feature wins.

The 15-lap USRA Stock Car feature was first to take to the track, with Brandon Rothzen and Toby Johnson on the front row. Rothzen took advantage of his front row starting spot to grab the lead on lap 1. Darin Thye moved in on lap 2 to challenge Rothzen for the top spot as they battled side-by-side for the lead until lap 7 when Zack VanderBeek slid under both drivers to take over the lead. VanderBeek held on for the final eight laps to pick up the win and garner the outside front row starting spot for Saturday's $2,000-to-win finale. Thye settled for second, Troy Alexander came home in third, Abe Huls was fourth and Johnson held on for fifth. Shelly Mizell took the final transfer spot into Saturday's main event. VanderBeek, Rothzen and Greg Gill each picked up a heat race win.

Up next was the 15-lap Outlaw Hobby feature, with Jimmy Hooper and Michael Larsen drawing the front row. Hooper jumped out into the lead on lap 1 and held it for one lap before Jim Lynch slipped by for the top spot. Lynch went on to hold the top spot until lap 4 when Michael St. Clair, who started eighth, jumped to his outside to grab the lead. St. Clair went on to lead the final 12 laps to claim the victory and earn the outside front row starting spot for Saturdays' $700-to-win finale. Jake Wenig came from 10th to finish in second, Derek Reimer was third, Larsen held on for fourth. Rob Wilsey started 17th and finish in fifth, with Hooper holding on for the sixth and final transfer spot. Heat race winners were Jake and Dan Wenig.

Donovan Nunnikhoven and Shawn Coleman led the field to the drop of the green flag in the 12-lap USRA Hobby Stock feature, with Nunnikhoven jumping out front on the start. Nunnikhoven held the lead until lap 3 when USRA Casey's General Stores Weekly Racing Series national champion Nathan Wood slid under him for the top spot. Wood went on to lead the final nine laps to pick up the win and give himself the outside front row starting spot for Saturday's $600-to-win finale. Nunnikhoven held on for second, Dustin Griffiths was third, Tim Kraber was fourth and Shawn Coleman held on for fifth. Andy Coleman took the sixth and final transfer spot. Wood and Kraber claimed the heat race wins.

The Bentz GM Country USRA Modified feature had Ron Barker and Chris Spieker on the front row for their 20-lap event. Barker took advantage of his front row starting spot to grab the lead at the drop of the green flag. Barker continued to hold the top spot as Michael Long, Terry Phillips, who started 16th, and Darin Duffy were battling it out for the second spot. Barker, who ran the top side of the speedway, and Long, who was on the bottom, ran laps 14 through 17 side-by-side before the two made contact going down the backstretch on lap 18. Barker slowed in turns 3-4 with a cut left rear tire, ending his night. Long inherited the lead, with Duffy and Phillips now on his back bumper. Long held them off until the last lap when Duffy jumped to the outside of Long going into turn 3, and came out of turn 4 with the lead and took the narrow win, and earned the outside front row starting spot for Saturday's $5,000-to-win finale. Long settled for second, Phillips was third, Ryan Ruter came from 12th to finish in fourth and Lee Hibner was fifth. Dan Chapman came from 13th to snare the sixth and final transfer spot. Heat race winners were Gary Blackburn Jr., Scott Dickey, Long and Tony Fraise, while Mike Wedelstadt pick up the win in the semi.

The lighting-fast Keith's Foods Late Models joined the card on Friday, racing a complete show for $2,000 to win with 41 drivers checked in for competition. Mike Smith and Tommy Elston drew the front row for the 25-lap feature, with Elston jumping out front on the drop of the green flag. Elston continued to lead the field as Terry Phillips, who started ninth, and Brian Harris, who started 11th, were working their way towards the front. Elston and Phillips battled each other for the lead from laps 14 through 16 before Phillips finally took command of the race. Phillips went on to lead the final nine laps to pick up the win and the $2,000 top prize. Elston settled for second, Harris was third and Smith held on for fourth, with Steve Lance Jr. rounding out the top-5. Jeremy Payne, Denny Woodworth, Harris and Phillips each picked up a heat race win, while Darrel DeFrance and Robby Warner claimed wins in the semi.

Tony Dunker and Tony Garner started the 15-lap Advance Trading USRA B-Modified feature on the front row, with Dunker grabbing the lead on lap 1. Dunker held the top spot until lap 17 when Wyatt Lantz, who started seventh, slipped under Dunker for the lead. Dunker didn't give up easy, however, as he slipped back by Lantz on lap 19 then held him off for the win and grab the outside front row starting spot for Saturday's $1,000-to-win finale. Kelly Smith finished third, Bob Woodrow was fourth, Porter Collins finished in fifth and Jim Gillenwater came from 12th to take the final transfer spot. Heat race wins went to Garner, Dunker and Woodrow.

The eight-lap Hornet feature saw Dale Porter and Lew Aikman on the front row, with Porter moving out front on the start. Porter led all eight laps to pick up the win. Bob Cowman was second, Aikman was third, with Corey Sheetz finishing in fourth. Porter also picked up the heat race win.
