Nearly 300 people gathered for a great night to honor the 2017 champions of the Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series, and this year’s banquet was the biggest one yet.

All nine USRA national champions were in attendance this year and all received some beautiful trophies, great money and we all had a real good time. All in all, USRA officials handed out more than $225,000 in cash and over $50,000 in certificates to both the USRA and USMTS drivers in attendance.

Jason Cummins, Elijah Zevenbergen, Ryan Gillmore, Dustin Gulbrandson, Lance Hofer, Jordan Eddleman and Mitch Balik all picked up golden eagle trophies as national champs in the Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series, as did Iron Man Challenge champions Derek Green (Stock Car) and Dan Hovden (B-Mod).

A few special awards were handed out, including the USRA Road Warrior Award to Andy Bryant for traveling to dozens of tracks throughout the year. Dustin Sorensen was honored as the 2017 Rookie of the Year while Holley USRA Stock Car driver Elijah Zevenbergen was announced as the Driver of the Year after winning 18 of 23 races for his first USRA title.
