Flores flies to first checkers at Southern New Mexico Speedway


Fans filed into the Southern New Mexico Speedway on Friday for a stellar opening to the 2018 season.

Donovan Flores set the front row with Jason Josselyn in the Holley USRA Stock Car field. Flores took off to lead lap one until a caution flew on lap two for Don Kleine and Craig Rice clashing in turn four.

On the restart, Flores ran away to a straight-away lead, never to be seen again as the 2014 Holley USRA Stock Car national champion won the opening round of action.

Jed Smith held off Josselyn for second with Jimmy Ray fourth and James Collins rounding out the top five.

Join us Saturday, April 7. for round two of the 305 Sprint Shootout presented by Interstate Batteries. Gates open at 5 p.m. with racing scheduled to start at 7:45. General admission for adults is $12 while kids ages 10 and under get in for free. The family pack includes four children under the age of 16 and two adults for $35.
