I-35 Speedway to host Asphalt Racers Reunion

I-35 Speedway honors our history in and around the Kansas City racing community. Part of our local racing history involved a decade plus of asphalt racing at I-70 and Lakeside Speedways. Those racers are to be commended for what they brought to the community during that era of racing. In fact, a couple of local NASCAR racers established their careers on the pavement after moving from the dirt tracks in the area. Additionally, we have former asphalt racers competing at I-35 Speedway in the Ainsworth brothers, the Marrants, and Rick Beebe to name a few who have returned to the roots of dirt racing.

On July 21, I-35 Speedway will host the first annual Asphalt Racers Reunion. Former Pink Super Truck asphalt racer Grandma Vicki Davis pitched this idea and is working with the former racers to create this reunion.

We all love our sport and it is important we remember our history and honor our history. Any racer who competed on the asphalt tracks of I-70 Speedway or Lakeside Speedway is welcome to come to the races on July 21 and receive free admission to the grandstand. We will honor these racers at intermission and take a group photo.

As we desire to establish a mailing list/email list of our former asphalt racers, please contact Vicki Davis at vdavis2@kc.rr.com or Diana Green at dcgreen84@aol.com. We at I-35 Speedway look forward to seeing and reminiscing with the former asphalt racers at their first reunion event.
