Darron Fuqua won the USRA Modified main event on Friday, May 11, at the Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kan.

Sixty cars checked in for week four of Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series action on KAW Valley Companies Night for racing on the river’s edge at the Lakeside Speedway.

To setup the main event lineups, drivers made their way to the track for heat races. After a week off, defending Holley USRA Stock Car track champion Brett Heeter of Louisburg claimed the heat race for his class while Out-Pace USRA B-Mod heat victories went to Luke Nieman and Brad Smith.

The final pair of heat race wins of the night went to USRA Modified drivers Darron Fuqua of Mayetta and Mark Schafman of Edwardsville.

Later in the night, drivers returned for the night’s main events.

In Holley USRA Stock Car action, Heeter grabbed the lead on lap 12 and never looked back in securing his second win of the season.

Tim Powell grabbed his fourth consecutive Out-Pace USRA B-Mod victory after taking command on lap eight of the 15-lap event.

Fuqua outlasted his teammate, Lance Town, and sailed on to collect his first Lakeside Speedway main event win of the season in the USRA Modifieds with Town hanging on to second after leading early.

Next Friday, May 18, racing resumes with USRA Modifieds, Holley USRA Stock Cars and Out-Pace USRA B-Mods, plus Grand Nationals, E-Mods and Four-Cylinders as the guest class (Factory Stocks have the week off). When at the track, tune your radio dial to 87.7 FM for a radio broadcast of all the action.
