Trevor Latham won the USRA Modified feature at the Tri-State Speedway in Pocola, Okla., on Saturday, June 9, 2018.

In a night that saw one winner take home his first trophy of the season and another his second, it was a great night of Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series action at the mighty Tri-State Speedway.

Once again, Mother Nature graced us with mid 90-degree temperatures after watering her gardens with over two inches of rain the day before. The top-notch track prep crew had the track ready to go at race time, with no packing required from the drivers. The last feature of the night still had racing action three and four-wide at times.

The second race on the track after intermission was the Out-Pace USRA B-Mod feature where Chad Summerford of Centerton, Ark., headed to victory lane for the first time this season. Pocola's Jacob Cox and Jay Rierson of Booneville, Ark., finished second and third.

Daniel Tarkington of Checotah stays atop the points standings for the class with a 30-point advantage.

The USRA Modifieds took to the high banks last for their feature. Trevor Latham of Rogers, Ark., picked up his second win of the season over Lonnie Robins of Alma, Ark., and Michael Hines of Van Buren, Ark., in third place.

Meanwhile, George Martin of Fort Smith, Ark., moved to the points lead by just 18 over Hines.

The next event for Tri-State Speedway will be next Saturday, June 16, for a full night of racing action. After that, it will be a topless Out-Pace USRA B-Mod special on June 30, and then the 47th Annual Firecracker Spectacular and 6th Annual Curtis Tennant Memorial will be here on Tuesday night, July 3. More information on all events can be found on our website at www.tri-statespeedway.com and our social media channels.
