Timm edges Schluetter for Deer Creek laurels

SPRING VALLEY, Minn. - Another beautiful 70-degree day greeted another spectacular crowd and a good field of cars on this Saturday night in Southern Minnesota.

Event sponsors Fastenal and Stone Machinery were on hand to hand out great gifts to the fans and show their products.

The track was smooth and very racy throughout the night of racing action as the track crew kept applying moisture throughout the night on the speedway.

No fewer than six starts were needed to get the racing action started in the USRA Modifieds. Jeff Schluetter took the lead from the start once the action finally got underway.

Mike Sorensen quickly moved into second with Todd Scharkey in third.

With four laps finally completed Craig Shaw and Bob Timm battled for fourth.

Scharkey worked past Sorensen for second with Timm slowly starting to pressure him for third.

A caution with ten to go saw Schluetter continue to lead, Timm worked into third while Ryan Gustin, Jay Ihrke and Pat Grahm had a great race going just outside the top five behind Steve Wetzstein.

A caution with five to go set up the final dash to the finish.

Timm and Schluetter dueled it out up front with Timm taking the lead with three to go.

Schluetter held on for second ahead of Scharkey, Sorensen and Wetzstein.
