Andy Bryant won the Out-Pace USRA B-Mod main event.

The Joe Berry Clash of the B-Mods event took center stage on Friday night at Lakeside Speedway for racing on the river’s edge. A $1,500 payday awaited the winner of the night’s featured Out-Pace USRA B-Mod event, which saw Andy Bryant prevail to capture the headlines for the weekend. All total, 95 drivers took part in the night’s action.

Holley USRA Stock Car drivers contested a pair of heat races as Brett Heeter and Kevin Anderson collected wins.

Hank Thompson and Anderson began the night on the front row of the main event but it wasn’t long before Heeter took command and sailed on to his sixth victory of the season. Anderson went on to finish second while Tim Shields advanced to third.

Two heat races were held for the USRA Modifieds on hand with Darron Fuqua and Mark Schafman claiming victories.

Kerry Davis and Tim Karrick occupied row one of the 20-lap feature but it was third-starting Fuqua who ultimately took his fifth Lakeside victory as Davis’ recent string of bad luck continued. Seventh-starting Aaron Marrant finished runner-up with Schafman rounding out the top three.

In the featured class of the night, Out-Pace USRA B-Mods raced their way onto the starting grid with Brad Smith, Bryant, Don Marrs and Tim Powell finding their way to the checkers for heat-race victories.

Bryant started the feature race from third on the grid but it did not matter as he surpassed both points leader Powell and multi-time feature winner Smith to prevail in the added money event for his fourth Lakeside trip to victory lane this season. Powell went on to finish second with former Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series national champion J.C. Morton in third.

The night concluded with a five-star-rated fireworks show that lit up the night sky to bring racing on the river’s edge for this week to a close.

Up Next: Friday, July 13, is Kling Auto Night featuring USRA Modifieds, Holley USRA Stock Cars and Out-Pace USRA B-Mods plus Grand Nationals, Factory Stocks and E-Mods. The pit gate opens at 5 p.m., spectator gates open at 5:30, the drivers meeting takes place at 7:15, hot laps start at 7:30 and racing gets underway at 8 p.m. General admission is $12, seniors (65+) and members of the military are $10, kids ages 7-12 are $6 and children ages 6 and under get in for free. Suite tickts are $20 with kids ages 2-12 just $10. Pit passes are $30 and kids ages 6 and under are $10.
