Weather woes hamper Wild Card Wednesday at Hamilton County Fair

Myles Michehl (21) won the Cook Racing Supplies USRA Hobby Stock feature.

Myles Michehl (21) won the Cook Racing Supplies USRA Hobby Stock feature.

With one main event in the books and the second just a few laps shy of the finish, the skies opened up and soaked the action during Wild Card Wednesday at the Hamilton County Speedway driven by Spangler Automotive.

Points leader Ryan Bryant of Mason City rolled to victory in the USRA Tuner division and Myles Michehl of Fort Dodge was declared the winner when the Cook Racing Supplies USRA Hobby Stock main event was stopped and declared official with four of the scheduled 15 laps remaining.

Four other divisions were unable to face off in their feature race so those will be completed this Saturday, July 28, during the regular Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series event that night, making for double features in all four classes.

Drivers not in attendance Wednesday can still partake in the make-up features on Saturday, lining up behind those already locked in to those races. New Out-Pace USRA B-Mods entries will have a $90 entry fee—the same amount it pays to start the race. The entry fee for Holley USRA Stock Cars will be $100 andy USRA Modifieds will be $110 to compete in the make-up feature. New entries will line-up in the order that they sign in on Saturday, so new drivers are encouraged to get there early.

On Saturday, July 27, Hy-Vee presents Kids Night powered by Good Life RV. More than 100 brand new bicycles will be given away to the kids at the races!

Watch the USRA Modifieds, Holley USRA Stock Cars, Out-Pace USRA B-Mods, Cook Racing Supplies USRA Hobby Stocks and USRA Tuners plus Malvern Bank Super Late Models scream around the track and you just might ride off on a brand new bike!

Pit gates open at 4 p.m., grandstands open at 4:30, the drivers meeting starts at 6:20 and hot laps begin at 6:40 with racing to follow.

General admission for ages 16 and older is $12, juniors (12-16) are $8 and kids (11 & Under) are free. Fans can also take advantage of the Family Pack where two adults and two youth get in for $32—a savings of $8. Pit passes are $30, youth (6-10) are $20 and kids (5 & under) are free.
