Four big shows for Iron Man Challenge usher in Labor Day


The Iron Man Challenge is locked and loaded for four fantastic nights of fast and furious competition on four dirt ovals in Northern Iowa and Southern Minnesota this week leading up to Labor Day.

The Holley USRA Stock Cars presented by Medieval Chassis and Out-Pace USRA B-Mods presented by Pace Performance will share the spotlight with the USMTS Modifieds all four nights.

Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series national points will be awarded all four nights. Cook Racing Supplies USRA Hobby Stocks will be racing on three of the four nights.

Action gets underway Thursday at the Rapid Speedway for some unfinished business from last Friday, and then it’s east bound and down to the Fayette County Speedway on Friday. The Deer Creek Speedway is the place to be on Saturday, and the finale takes place on the eve of Labor Day at the Cresco Speedway on Sunday.

RAPID SPEEDWAY – The Iron Man Challenge rambles back into Rock Rapids, Iowa, as the Rapid Speedway hosts the 10th Annual Coral Lanes Rapid Rumble—for a second time—this Thursday, Aug. 30.

Tickets and wristbands from Friday’s show will be honored this Thursday. Those with tickets and/or wristbands who cannot return this Thursday can get a full refund by mailing them to the Rapid Speedway at 400 S. Tama St., Rock Rapids, IA 51246.

The Out-Pace USRA B-Mods will be racing for an increased purse as part of the Dave Mulder Memorial, with USMTS Modifieds and Cook Racing Supplies USRA Hobby Stocks also in action.

The show will kick off with a feature race for the Iron Man Stock Cars that was rained out June 1 and again last Friday.

The pits open at 5 p.m., spectator gates open at 5:30, hot laps begin at 7 and the first heat race hits the track at 7:30.

Grandstand tickets are $20 for adults, $12 for teens and free for children 6 and under. A pit pass is $25.

FAYETTE COUNTY SPEEDWAY – Friday’s show on the final day of August at the Fayette County Speedway in West Union, Iowa, is presented by KAR Auto Group of Decorah.

USMTS Modifieds and Cook Racing Supplies USRA Hobby Stocks are on the card too. Hobby Stocks competing in their Season Championship event at the track.

The pit gate opens at 4 p.m., grandstands open at 4:30, hot laps begin at 7 and racing starts at 7:30.

Spectator tickets are $20 for those ages 12 and older. Kids ages 11 and under get in free with a paid adult. Pit passes are $30.

DEER CREEK SPEEDWAY – On Saturday, Sept. 1, it's another colossal clash at the high-banked Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minn., for the 13th Annual Labor Day Duel.

The Holley USRA Stock Cars and Out-Pace USRA B-Mods will share the spotlight with the USMTS Modifieds and Wissota Street Stocks.

Adult general admission tickets are $20 and kids ages 12 and under get in for $5. Pit passes are $35 for adults, students (6-15) are $20 and kids 5 and under are $5.

The pit gate opens at 2 p.m. and grandstands open at 2:30. Hot laps begin at 5:30 and racing starts at 6 p.m. Slingshots will be racing at 3 p.m. on Button Buck Speedway.

Race fans can pick up coupons good for $2 off adult admission at Casey’s General Stores locations in Austin, Blooming Prairie, Dodge Center, Hayfield, Mantorville, Oronoco, Preston, Rochester, Spring Valley and Stewartville plus the Cresco, Lime Springs, Osage, Riceville and St. Ansgar locations in Iowa.

CRESCO SPEEDWAY – The Iron Man Challenge invade the Cresco Speedway in Cresco, Iowa, on Sunday, Sept. 16, for the 16th Annual Cresco Bowl at the Mighty Howard County Fairgrounds with the USMTS Modifieds and Cook Racing Supplies USRA Hobby Stocks also on the card.

The pit gate opens at 4 p.m., grandstands open for seating at 5, hot laps begin at 6 and the first race hits the track at 6:30.

Grandstand admission is $20 for adults (18 and older), $10 for teens (13-17) and free for kids 12 & under.
