Ryan Bryant: 2018 Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series USRA Tuner National Champion

The 2018 racing season in the summit USRA Weekly Racing Series was also the second in a row for crowning a national champion in the sport compact four-cylinder USRA Tuner division, and Mason City, Iowa’s Ryan Bryant won the title going away.

With a division-best seven wins in 23 starts, Bryant secured track championships at the Mason City Motor Speedway and Hamilton County Speedway in Webster City, Iowa, while keeping national runner-up Brad Mayland of Britt, Iowa, in his rear-view mirror most of the way.

Scott Espey of Alpha, Minn., finished third; Oliver Monson of Clear Lake, Iowa, was fourth; and Lu Verne, Iowa’s Justin Nielson filled the final spot in the top five. John Dahlsten, Matt Oberhelman, defending national champ Kyle Balik, Sam Umbarger and Dan Jensen round out the top 10.

In addition to national and track points funds, Bryant will also receive contingency awards from Summit Racing Equipment and RacerWebsite.com.

The United States Racing Association will host its annual awards banquet on Friday, Feb. 22, 2019, at the Ameristar Casino Hotel in Kansas City, and this year’s party will once again be a joint effort for both the USRA and United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS). A record crowd of nearly 300 people attended last year’s gathering. Fans and members of the media are invited to attend too.
