Myer checks out at Chateau

LANSING, Minn. - The weather was hot and the racing was too Friday night at Chateau Raceway in Lansing powered by Husqvarna. It was the twelvth night of racing for the 2007 racing season and with the racing for July over with it leaves just four nights of racing to decide track champions for this year. Going into Friday night's action, only two of the six classes had drivers with a 30-plus points lead, so the battles are looking good going down the stretch.

The Noble RV USRA Modified class saw a change at the top of their points list at the end of the night. Steve Wetzstein of West Conocrd entered the night leading Doug Hillson of Blooming Prairie by four points, but mechanical problems in both of his races saw that go away. With a fourth-place finish for Hillson in the feature and Wetzstein falling out in 16th place, an almost 40-point swing is going to have the top of the list showing a new name next week.

Tommy Myer of Blooming Prarie took the win coming out of row 2 and going to the front in just three laps on his way to claiming his fourth feature win of the year. He also scored a sweep as he took a heat win on the night as well. Jason Cummins of New Richland drove a long race passing a lot of cars to come home second ahead of Josh Mattick of Austin and Hillson.

Cummins started back in row 5 and had passed several cars to move up towards the top 5 before getting a piece of an accident on lap 9. After a quick tirp to the pits he restated in 13th and went to work trying to move forward again. In just six laps he moved up to fourth, and with just a handful of laps to go was up to second behind Myer. One final caution with two laps to go set up a shootout between the two but Myer held him off for the win. Cummins picked up the other heat win on the night as he made the pass for the win on the final lap coming out of turn 4 to outrun Mattick for the checkers.

Friday night's program was sponsored by the Motor Supply Companys of Austin and Albert Lea and Northstar PowerSports & Marine with plenty of giveaways including two more bicyles for the kids. Next Friday night's Kids Friendly Promotion will feature a candy drop on the front straightaway. Racing action gets underway at 7:30 every Friday night with six classes of racing at Chateau Raceway in Lansing.
