Chateau Speedway opener postponned to May 10

Weather concerns have put Chateau Speedway in the position to determine if next week’s 2019 season opening activities are going to be possible.

Unfortunately, the decision was made to delay everything one week. A wet, snowy spring already had the track behind schedule on the upgrades to the facility, but plans were still to be able to open on time with test 'n' tune on April 30 and the first race May 3.

However, this weekend's snow and rain, along with the wet forecast for much of the next week, made it obvious the practice session was not going to happen and completion of other upgrades was not likely to be done in time for Friday.

Not the least of these upgrades is the repairs to the fence in front of the grandstand. Fans may recall the fence was not straight and jutted in and out in front of the fans. Much of the fence was taken down this spring and new posts have been put in but the wet weather has prevented the reinstalling of the fencing and the restraining cables.

With the wet weather preventing that work cars not be on the speedway for obvious insurance and safety reasons.

The tTrack will now host a test 'n' tune on Tuesday, May 7, from 5-9 p.m.

Pit admission will be $30 per car (including driver and pit crew). Grandstands will be open for free for anybody wishing to come out and watch.

The 2019 racing season will officially get underway on Friday, May 10, at 7:15 p.m.
