Kyle Falck won the American Racer USRA Stock Car feature.

The Fayette County Speedway in West Union, Iowa, kicked off its 2019 season Friday night as several of the USRA’s top drivers found their way to the winner’s circle.

Following the American USRA Stock Car feature race, a pair of Iron Man points champions from years past, Kyle Falck and Mitch Hovden, waited eagerly on the front stretch of the 3/8-mile speedway as they awaited the official decision on who actually came to the checkers first in the 20-lap race.

“That was about as close as it gets,” said Falck from victory lane after he was eventually acknowledged as the winner of the race over his fellow Decorah racer. 

After starting on the pole for the race, Falck raced hard with Hovden and Lynn Panos for the lead spot, but Hovden eventually took the lead on the chilly northeast Iowa night. Falck did not stray far from Hovden’s bumper throughout the green-to-checkers race, as he made his final move on the last lap of the race with Panos finishing third.

Finishing fourth was 2018 Arnold Motor Supply Iron Man Challenge champion Dillon Anderson, ahead of hard charger Dan Jones in fifth (started eighth).

In the Out-Pace USRA B-Mod feature, Decorah’s Dan Hovden picked up the win as he elegantly made his way from fifth to first in the feature race.

Josh Roney was the early race leader as he and Kyle Anderson looked to hold the early advantage, but the two went on to finish second and third in the night’s main event behind Hovden’s No. 16 hot rod.

Cole Denner finished fourth on the night as Jeremy Schaufenbuel rounded out the top five after battling through the field from his ninth-place starting position.

The night’s final event featured the action of the Cook Racing Supplies USRA Hobby Stock class as a field of 15 cars entertained the packed grandstand on night No. 1 of the racing season.

While the battle for second place featured an intense battle throughout the entire feature event, veteran Eric Stanton drove away from the field for his fifth win of the 2019 season. Stanton held a straight-away-long lead over runner-up Billy Rhoades when they crossed the checkered flag. Rhoades started the feature in sixth.

Neil Franzen finished third while Josh Ludeking and Matt White rounded out the top five.
