Armed Forces Night set for May 18 at Hamilton County Speedway


The banks of the Boone River will feel the rumble of intense high-speed racing this Saturday, May 18, at Webster City, Iowa’s historic Hamilton County Speedway driven by Spangler Automotive as Casey's General Store presents Armed Forces Night with free admission for all retired and active duty military.

Items will be auctioned during intermission with all proceeds benefitting Hope for the Warriors. One dollar of every ticket sold will also be donated to Hope for the Warriors, a veteran service organization which provides a full cycle of care to restore self, family and hope to post-9/11 service members, their families and families of the fallen. Casey's General Store is donating tickets to the Hamilton County Veteran's Affairs to be dispersed to veterans and their family members. Veterans and active duty military personnel and their families will also be able to occupy the VIP Suite and Party Deck as Casey’s is inviting them to enjoy that space on their behalf.

Veterans and military personnel can pick up free tickets at the Hamilton County Veteran’s Affairs office located at 500 Fair Meadow Drive in Webster City.

With the on-track action, fans can expect to see the region’s top Out-Pace USRA B-Mod racers on this night as they battle for a whopping $2,400 to win their main event. The Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series featuring USRA Modifieds, American Racer USRA Stock Cars, Out-Pace USRA B-Mods, Cook Racing Supplies USRA Hobby Stocks and USRA Tuners will be in action, along with the return of the lightning-fast Super Late Models presented by Malvern Bank.

Pits will open at 4 p.m. and spectator gates open at 5 with hot laps at 7 and racing at 7:30.

General admission tickets are $15 (current and retired military personnel are free), juniors (ages 12-16) are $10 and kids 11 & under get in for free. Pit passes are $30 while youth (ages 6-10) get in for $#20 and kids 5 & under can accompany their parents to the pit area at no cost.

The Hamilton County Speedway driven by Spangler Automotive is located off US 20 at exit 140, then 1.2 miles north, then 0.5 mile east on Bank St., then 0.4 mile south on Bluff St. to the Hamilton County Fairgrounds in Webster City, Iowa. Opening in July 1910, the Hamilton County Speedway is the oldest speedway in the state of Iowa. In 1938, work began on the current location at the Hamilton County Fairgrounds. The semi-banked half-mile dirt track was completed in the spring of 1939, and the first races were held on the track in September of that year.
