One of the missions of Lucas Oil Speedway is helping to create memories for young fans and one of the highlights in that regard is coming up in just over a month.

The annual Frog's Signs Junior Fan Club Kids Night Bicycle Giveaway is scheduled on July 4 during the Casey's General Store Thursday Night Thunder program that evening. Drivers, sponsors and fans are being asked to donate bicycles for youngsters, ages 5-12, for the event.

"Our goal is to top last year's total of 104 bicycles given away to the kids," Lucas Oil Speedway General General Manager Danny Lorton said, noting that both girls' and boys' new bicycles are being accepted. The bicycles can be brought to the speedway office during weekday business hours, or dropped off on race nights, starting with the June 8 Big Adventure Weekly Racing Series program.

Youngsters can sign up for the Frog's Signs Junior Fan Club on the midway upon arrival at the speedway on July 4. Gates will open at 4 p.m. with hot laps at 6:30 and opening ceremonies at 7. The drawing for bicycles will be held during intermission.

"This is always one of the highlights of our season, giving youngsters who might not otherwise have the means to have a bicycle to take one home on July 4," Lorton said. "We sure would like to spread the word and have more to give away than we did last year.

"The best way to donate now is to buy a new bicycle and bring it with them to the speedway, or if they prefer we will accept cash donations that can be dropped off or mailed to the speedway."

Lucas Oil Speedway has a scheduled week off this weekend. The oval track will re-open on June 8, as TA/Petro along with KY3 Digital Presents the Big Adventure RV Weekly Racing Series. The Out-Pace USRA B-Mods will headline the action with a $750-to-win, 25-lap main event. The Warsaw Auto Marine & RV ULMA Late Models, Pitts Homes USRA Modifieds and O'Reilly Auto Parts Street Stocks also will be in action. The B-Mods also will run a makeup feature to begin the program from a May 11 rainout.

Gates will open at 4 p.m. with hot laps at 6:30 and racing at 7:05.
