Waits, Greiner featured in upcoming Hawkeye Racing News

VINTON, Iowa - Hawkeye Racing News will publish their annual “Hometown Heroes” issue, which is due out Feb. 20. This issue profiles drivers throughout the Midwest in support classes.

Among the drivers to be featured in the upcoming edition are USRA competitors Brad Waits and Matt Greiner. Waits, from Zumbrota, Minn., captured the 2007 USRA Casey's General Stores Weekly Racing Series National Championship. Greiner, from Washington, Iowa, captured track championship crowns at three tracks: Bloomfield (Iowa) Speedway, Scotland County Speedway in Memphis, Mo., and Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa, Iowa.

Other drivers that will be profiled in this year's issue include Dean Mahlstedt of Clear Lake, Iowa (USMTS competitor and winner of Featherlite Fall Jamboree); Jayson Ditsworth of Burlington, Iowa (34 Raceway 305 Sprint Car Champion); D.J. Werkmeister of Braceville, Ill. (LaSalle & Grundy County Speedway Four-Cylinder Champion); Troy Naeger of Festus, Mo. (UMP Sportsman National Champion); James Swan of Genoa City, WI (Mid-American Stock Car Series Champion); Troy and Kyle Shear of Roscoe, Ill. (Mid-American Stock Car Series); Ed “Bubba” Kline of Kearney, Mo. (Central Missouri Speedway B-Modified Champion); Nathan Burke of Minot, N.D. (Stock Car/North Dakota State Champ); Mark Hanson of Chippewa Falls, Wis. (WISSOTA Midwest Modified); Corey Jankowski of Tomah, Wis. (Dells Raceway Sportsman Champion); Jamie Lemke of Hutchinson, Minn (WISSOTA Modified/Viking Fall Classic Champ); B.J Dauer of Hutchinson, Kansas (Hobby Stock/Kansas State Champ); Pat Rachels of Knoxville, Iowa (Eldon Raceway Stock Car Champion); Brian Franz of Halstead, Kansas (NCRA Modified Champion); Tyler Limoges of Redwood Falls, Minn. (WISSOTA Midwest Modified); Michael Long of Quincy, Ill. (Modified champ at Quincy & Memphis); Chester Ace of Oregon, Wis. (Bandit division at Madison Int'l Speedway); and Jena Barthelmes of Marion, Iowa (Sport Compact National Champion).
