CRESCO, Iowa - Races for Friday, June 6 at the Cresco Speedway in Cresco, Iowa, have been canceled.

Heavy rains throughout the past two nights has left standing water in both turns, making track preparation impossible for track workers.

Furthermore, officials discovered this morning that a lightning strike sometime in the past 48 hours has disabled the track lighting and other areas needing electrical power. Workers will be on the scene Monday to repair the damage.

Action at the Howard County Fairgrounds speedplant will continue next Friday, June 13 as A&W / Long John Silver's presents Kids Night featuring the USRA Casey’s General Stores Weekly Racing Series. On the racing card will be USRA Modifieds, USRA Karl Chevrolet Stock Cars, USRA Karl Chevrolet B-Mods, USRA Hobby Stocks and Outlaw Hobbys.

Pit gates open at 5 p.m. and grandstand tickets go on sale at 5:30. Hot laps begin at 7:15 and the mud starts flying at 7:30 p.m.

For more information, contact the RL Promotions offices at (515) 832-6000 or visit www.rlpromotions.com online. Race day info is available by calling the track hotline at (563) 547-3400. The Cresco Speedway is located 0.2 miles north of SR 9 on SW 7th (at the Howard County Fairgrounds).
