Lucas Oil Speedway seeking National Anthem singers for 2020 season


Lucas Oil Speedway has a tradition of kicking off each racing program with an opening ceremony. It consists of a salute to military veterans and a prayer prior to the Star Spangled Banner, as one car from each participating division slowly circles the track with the driver holding a large American flag out the window.

Again in 2020, the speedway in looking for singers to perform the National Anthem.

"The opening ceremony is a big part of our race-night experience and to have a live rendition of the National Anthem is always special," Lucas Oil Speedway General Manager Danny Lorton said. "I know we have a lot of talented singers in the area and we would like to invite them to be a part of helping us start the races the right way."

Openings remain for anthem singers for Big Adventure RV Weekly Racing Series programs or special events throughout the season. Anyone interested in doing so can contact Administrative Assistant Lisa Lorton at Lisa@lucasoilspeedway.com and submit an audio recording of a previous rendition.

Also on the musical front, bands are being sought to perform at various events at the Diamond Bar throughout the season. Interested bands can also contact Lisa Lorton for more information about that.

The Lucas Oil Speedway season kicks off with the Open Test and Tune on March 28, with the Big Adventure RV Weekly Racing Series opening night set for April 4 with action in all four divisions - Pitts Homes USRA Modified, Ozark Golf Cars USRA B-Mods, Warsaw Auto Marine & RV ULMA Late Models and O'Reilly Auto Parts Street Stocks.
