Kevin Donlan won the American Racer USRA Stock Car main event.

The Christie Door Company Iron Man Challenge built by Medieval Chassis shared the spotlight with the USMTS Modifieds for a “hump day” hullabaloo at the Cedar County Raceway in Tipton, Iowa.

With nearly the entire main event field running nose-to-tail and door-to-door, the American Racer USRA Stock Cars saw Kevin Donlan defeat his fellow Decorah resident Mitch Hovden for the $600 top prize.

Reprising their back-and-forth heat race battle, Todd Staley of Webster City fended off Ankeny’s Pat Graham for third-place money and Troy Hansmeier of Waukon completed the top five.

After coming up one spot short of his first Iron Man victory one night earlier at the Stuart International Speedway, Brayton Carter of Oskaloosa got around polesitter Josh Roney of Postville and last night’s winner, Dan Hovden of Decorah, early in the main event and held off repeated challenge to get the win.

Behind Carter’s $500 effort, Ben Moudry of Protivin provided all the pressure the winner could handle but settled for runner-up honors at the checkered flag while Hovden, Roney and Ryan Walker of Wilton rounded out the top five.

Moving on to Mason City: The American Racer USRA Stock Cars and USRA B-Mods of the Christie Door Company Iron Man Challenge joins the fire-breathing Modifieds of the Summit USMTS National Championship fueled by Casey’s again Thursday at the Mason City Motor Speedway.

Mensink Racing Products USRA Hobby Stocks and USRA Tuners complete the five-division program at the newly-configured high-banked 1/3-mile clay oval located 5.1 miles east of I-35 at exit 194 on SR 122 (at the North Iowa Fairgrounds).

Friday will see American Racer USRA Stock Cars, USRA B-Mods and Mensink Racing Products USRA Hobby Stocks in action along with the USMTS Modifieds and local Sportsmans at the Rapid Speedway in Rock Rapids. Race time is 7:30 p.m. More information can be found at RockRapidsSpeedway.com.

The fifth and final round happens Saturday at the Hamilton County Speedway in Webster City with the USMTS Modifieds titans again sharing the spotlight with American Racer USRA Stock Cars, USRA B-Mods and Mensink Racing Products USRA Hobby Stocks.
