CRESCO, Iowa - The gates swing open this Sunday, May 17, to launch another exciting season of American Racer USRA Weekly Racing Series action at the Cresco Speedway, located on Mighty Howard County Fairgrounds in Cresco, Iowa.

After two seasons of Friday night racing, RL Promotions officials are returning to the traditional Sunday race night with four classes in action: USRA Modifieds, USRA Karl Chevrolet Stock Cars, USRA Karl Chevrolet B-Mods and USRA Hobby Stocks.

This Sunday's season opener will also feature a special $1,000 top prize for the USRA Modifieds.

Pit gates will open at 4:00, spectator gates open at 5:00, hot laps start around 6:15 and the mud start flying at 6:30 sharp.

Defending track champions are Darrin Walch of Postville (USRA Modifieds), Tom Schmitt of Independence (USRA Karl Chevrolet Stock Cars), Jimmy Broszeit of Postville (USRA Karl Chevrolet B-Mods) and Brandon Hare of Elma (USRA Hobby Stocks).

The Cresco Speedway is a 4/10-mile semi-banked clay oval located 0.2 miles north of SR 9 on SW 7th (at the Howard County Fairgrounds).
