Briggs captures first USRA B-Mod victory at Lebanon Midway Speedway

Lebanon driver Wesley Briggs showed patience and put himself in the right place at the right time by taking advantage of leaders Dayton Pursley and Mitchell Franklin getting together on lap 10, and then fended by repeated charges from Jamie Mauk to capture his first-ever feature win Friday night at the Lebanon Midway Speedway.

The 15-lap feature saw Pursley and Franklin pull away from the field from the front row and Pursley leading by a five-car-length advantage as Franklin started closing ground in the long green run while Briggs was battling Jamie Mauk for third.

As Franklin was making the move to grab the lead over Pursley in turn two, the lead duo made contact sending Pursley spinning around and bringing out the caution

Franklin pulled into the pits as Pursley had to go to the rear of the field placing Briggs as the leader.

The last five laps was a nail-biter as Mauk made several attempts to take the lead but Briggs stayed focused and held Mauk back for the career-firt win for the 13-year racing veteran.

Mauk had his career-best finish with the runner-up honors while Pursley charged back to third followed by Brian Myers and Todd Mauk.

With points leader Kris Jackson not competing, the track points battle has just got even tighter.

Qualifying heat races were captured by Pursley and Franklin.

Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series action feturing USRA B-Mods continues Friday, Auguyst 13, with a $500-to-win feature along with Late Models, Midwest Mods, Pure Stocks, Super Stocks and front-wheel-drive Hornets.

Gates open at 5 p.m. with hot laps at 7 and racing at 8.

Adult grandstand admission is only $12 with discounted prices for seniors and military. Pit passes are $35.
