Lucas Oil Speedway regular-season stretch looms after scheduled off week

The dirt track will remain silent this week as Lucas Oil Speedway takes a scheduled weekend off before a busy stretch to conclude the regular season.

Action resumes on Aug. 21 with Round 13 of the Big Adventure RV Weekly Racing Series, the next-to-last weekend of points racing for the Cedar Creek Beef Jerky USRA Modifieds, O’Reilly Auto Parts USRA Stock Cars and Ozark Golf Cars USRA B-Mods, plus the track's ULMA Late Model class.

It also will be Public Safety Appreciation Night presented by KOLR as all police, fire and rescue personnel will be admitted free. Gates will open at 4 p.m. with hot laps at 6:30 and racing at 7:05.

“It’s been a busy stretch at the speedway over the last month with the CMH Diamond Nationals, Bo’s On the Road Extravaganza and the USMTS Show-Me Shootout,” Lucas Oil Speedway General Manager Danny Lorton said. “This weekend will give everyone a chance to catch their breath before we head into the final weeks of the regular season and all the special events in September and October.”

Also on tap during the day on Aug. 21, the Kansas City Off Road Racing Association takes to the Off Road track with divisions including Youth, Youth 1000, Youth 570, Youth 170 Mod, Youth 170, Sportsman, Women, Mini-Stock Truck, Pro NA/Pro Turbo.

Pre-registration is set for 5-10 p.m. Aug. 20. Pit gates open at 8 a.m. on Aug. 21 with spectator gates opening at 9 a.m., registration 8-10, drivers' meeting at 9:30, practice at 10 and heat races at noon.

Fans purchasing tickets to the Off Road action will receive free admission to the dirt-track action that evening.

Camping is available at $35 per night reserved with hookups (limited availability), $20 reserved dry spots (limited) and 10 per night dry camping. Call 417-282-5984 for more information.
