Briggs leads Lebanon Midway B-Mods into August 20 action

The battle for the USRA B-Mod track championship at the Lebanon Midway Speedway has a new leader by a thin margin as Lebanon driver Wesley Briggs takes over the top spot after the action last Friday.

Briggs and his No. 28 car has captured one win this season and that along with some strong runs will head into the action this Friday with a eight-point margin over Dayton Pursley while Jay Flinn is only 16 markets behind the leader with some very good finishes at the end of the race.

Lebanon driver Brian Myers has moved up and down in the standings and finds himself in fourth place only 22 markers out of the top spot while season long leader and two-time Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series national champion Kris Jackson has dropped to fifth, but only 30 points behind Briggs.

None of these five have ever won a USRA B-Mod Midway track championship which makes it even more eye catching.

Jackson has numerous wins in his career while Briggs has one so far coming two weeks ago. Pursley, the second-generation hard charger, is still looking for his first victory and his finishes shows that his father—USRA Modified reacer Jason Pursley—has taught his son well.

Jay Flinn in only his third season in the B-Mods and pilots the unusual green No. 6. While Green is known as unlucky in racing has really picked up his game.

Myers has a couple of career B-Mod wins in his career in the Batmobile No. 16M.

The seconnd-half battle in the top 10 also has a good tight battle with a couple of rookies Dwight Brown and Mitch Armstrong ranked currently in the top 10.

Racing action continues Friday night with racing to start at 8 p.m. in the $500-to-win feature event. Racing will also feature Late Models, Super Stocks, Midwest Mods, Pure Stocks and Hornets as the track is moving towards USRA Tuner rules for the front-wheel-drive cars.
