"Thank you" to the race fans from Chateau Raceway

This Friday, Aug. 14, Chateau Raceway would like to show their appreciation to all of the fans that supported them through the 2009 season. In doing so, they are lowering their grandstand admit price to $8 and kids 12 and under will be free on the 14th.

We know this summer has had its trying times for most everyone. If you haven't been affected buy the trying times due to the economy, we are sure you know someone that has.

"We are so glad to have the great fans that we do, so in return  Jerry and I just wanted show our appreciation," said owner/promoter Darin Toot. "We were not sure what this summer would bring and with the season being over halfway through we thought now is as good as time as any to say 'Thank you.'

This week the Chateau Raceway features box car races for the kids. Kids make a racecar out of a cardboard box and decorate it before coming to the races Friday. On Friday they bring there racecars and get in the center of it with straps to hold it on their side, and race a little course on the front straight away. They make one lap and do a pit stop (tire change ). Mom or dad must take off a shoe and put it back on, then the child makes another lap and get filled with gas on the next pit stop (drinks some water). then the mom or dad sends them on the way to the checkered flag. Lots of fun for everyone and the kids race for a trophy.

With the summer winding down, everyone at the Chateau Raceway thanks you, and we look forward to seeing everyone on Friday nights through Labor Day Weekend and for the specials.  Friday, Sept. 4, is the Cedar River Races featuring the USMTS Modifieds; Sept. 11-12 is the two-day special Midwest Modified Nationals. The raceway takes the rest of the month off and reopens with the Oct. 2-3 Buzz Fest.

Hope to see everyone at the Races. Visit the website at www.chateauraceway.net for weekly specials and info.
