Bennett eyes Front Row Challenge and Nationals

OSKALOOSA, Iowa (Aug. 2, 2001) - Bob Bennett will be competing at the 2001 Front Row Challenge and Knoxville Nationals, and sees the events as his springboard to a top five finish in the 2001 Gum-Out Series point standings.

Bennett, a second-year competitor with the World of Outlaws Gum-Out Series, set a goal with team owner John Mickle at the beginning of the season to improve from their 2000 point standing of ninth place with the series.

Currently 6th in the standings, Bennett is aware that the final events of the Gum-Out Series season will be crucial in obtaining the ACME Trailer Works team goal of a top five finish in the season-long point chase.

“It will come down to how we perform after the Knoxville Nationals,” said Bennett. “The rest of the year, especially after Knoxville, will be crucial in obtaining our goal. When we come back to Pennsylvania for races at Williams Grove and Port Royal with the Gum-Out Series, we will be racing on familiar territory, and carrying two provisional spots along with us will be good insurance.”

Bennett was recently awarded the KSE Hard Charger Award and the JB Enterprises A-main Award for his performance at the Gum-Out Series event at Hartford, Michigan July 27th, 2001.
