360 Sprints invade Southern Iowa Speedway

OSKALOOSA, Iowa (July 14, 2002) - The Southern Iowa Speedway has long been know as one of the toughest places to win in an IMCA Stock Car, Modified or Hobby Stock. Lately, the buzz has been that Oskaloosa's half mile is a great place to watch the best in sprint car racing go to battle. Famous is the Wesmar Racing Engines - Brodix Front Row Challenge in August and now the highest paying non-wing race in the country, the Sander Engineering Ultimate Challenge. These 2 days lead sprint car fans into the biggest Winged Sprint Car race in the Country, the Mopar Parts Knoxville Nationals.

But for those fans that want a taste of sprint cars at Oskaloosa before the Southern Iowa Sprint Speed Week, there is an answer.

July 23 will host the first of 2 visits of the 360 sprint cars at the Southern Iowa Speedway. The 360's will be part of the Southern Iowa Fair in July. Along with the sprint Cars the NDTRA Dirt Trucks will be in action.

The 360's will be racing under most Knoxville rules and will be racing for $1000.

SIS promoter Bill McCroskey said "Oskaloosa is a great place to race sprint cars. The fair board has really done a nice job improving the track with new guard rail in turns 1&2, and we all know the sprint cars really get around this place. This joint is fast and the 360's will put on a heck of a show!"

The 360 Sprint Cars will return for another show on August 17.
