Southern Iowa Speedway announces 2003 car show, rules meeting

OSKALOOSA, Iowa (Jan. 31, 2003) - The annual McCroskey Chevrolet Racers Car Show will again be held at the Penn Central Mall in Oskaloosa on March 21-23. All race drivers are invited to participate by bringing your racer to the mall for display. Cars may begin coming in on Friday afternoon and will not be taken out until the end of the show on Sunday. Cars will not be permitted to leave before the end of the show.

SIS Promoter Bill McCroskey said, “last year we had a great show. We really hope we can fill the mall. We hope to have Drag Racers, Dirt Trucks, Go-Kart racers, Sprint Cars along with the IMCA Stock Cars Modifieds and Hobby stocks. Anyone who has a race car is allowed to display. The fans really like to see the cars up close and to meet the drivers.”

Drivers are encouraged to bring pictures to hand out and if they have t-shirts to sell, they are welcome to do that as well.

In addition to the cars show, on Sunday the 23rd starting at noon, there will be a rules meeting held in the center court. Drivers are encouraged to attend. There will be rule books available at this time.

Competition Director Tony Bokhoven said, “there are not a lot of new rule changes for this season, however there are a couple of new things and drivers will want to be aware of them. We hope most drivers will be able to attend. We will be addressing rules for all 4 classes at this time.

This will also be a good time to ask questions for those drivers interested in the Sander Engineering 305 division.

The 2003 season gets under way on April 12th with the NMRA Spring Challenge Sprint Car show. IMCA action takes to the track with a practice night on April 9th. Points’ racing begins on April 16.
