Springfield Raceway adds to growing 2010 schedule

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Just after Springfield Raceway released the tentative 2010 racing schedule one month ago, at the Ozarks Racing Reunion Saturday night, owners Jerry Hoffman and Doug Bland have announced some added events and changes making the schedule one of the most action-packed in the Ozarks and Southwest Missouri.

The opening racing will be March Madness on Saturday, March 27, as the classes for that event have been announced with the popular Show-Me Racin’ Series Late Models opening their 2010 season that night along with action in the USRA Modifieds, Sport Mods and exciting Legends Cars completing the card.

Another well received date will be Saturday, May 15, as the USMTS Modifieds will be invading the quick quarter-mile along with points action for the Sport Mods, Legends Cars, Street Stocks and Pure Stocks. Last season in the first of two USMTS events at Springfield, four-time Springfield Raceway track champion Jackie Dalton earned the pole and led the opening laps, but it was Springfield driver Terry Phillips holding off repeated challenges from Jeremy Payne and Jason Hughes in topping the main event.

While Springfield Raceway will not be in action on Saturday, May 29, due to the running on the Show-Me 100, it will be in action with a special Monday event as it will play host to the final stop of the North-South Shootout with USRA Modifieds paying $1,000 to win along with the running of the inaugural Pure Stock endure-style 100-lapper paying $2,000 to win.
