Public service personnel admitted free to Springfield opener

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - As the Springfield Raceway prepares to get the 2010 racing season underway on Saturday, April 17, owners Jerry Hoffman and Doug Bland have announced that all police, fire, EMS and sheriffs department personnel will be admitted free to the season opener.

“These people do a lot and are the unsung heroes in our areas,” said Hoffman. “We want to show them a big thank you by letting them in free on opening night, along with two immediate family members.”

Fans will need to show their ID badges for the free admission.

The season opener at the famed quick quarter-mile will feature USRA RHS Modifieds, along with Sport Mods, Street Stocks, Legends Cars, MidWest Modz and Pure Stocks.

Grandstand gates will open around 4 p.m. with hot laps starting at 5:30 and racing at 6.

The entire month of April will feature a 6 p.m. starting time before switching in May.
