Mike Knight Memorial this Saturday at I-35 Speedway


Racing family means a family that loves first and foremost. What ties us together at I-35 Speedway is our sport, the excitement and fun, the speed and thrills, but we become family, race fans, racecar drivers, pit crews, officials, and owners.

This week is Nodaway Valley Bank Night featuring the Mike Knight Memorial as our racing family celebrates the memory of former dirt guru Mike Knight with bonus money ($800 to win) from the Knight family towards the Medieval USRA Stock Cars, plus a 7.5-foot trophy.

With 20 races in so far this year let’s take a quick gander at our Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series stats:

USRA Modifieds: 10 different winners and a tight battle between Tyler Hibner who leads Houston Johnson by 16 points and Lee Hibner by 70 points.

Medieval USRA Stock Cars: 10 different winners and Nic Hanes leads Doug Keller by 422 points.

USRA B Mods: 8 different winners and 84 points separate Tyler Cadwallader and Michael Taylor III.

Racing starts at 7:00 P.M. Pit gates and Grandstands open at 4:00. Pill Draw close and Drivers’ Meeting are at 6:00 P.M. Hot Laps immediately after driver’s meeting with the last session taking the track at 6:50 P.M.

Admission prices, Adults $15, Seniors (62+) and Military $12, age 18 and under free, and Pit Passes are $35. Bring the family and enjoy a night of racing. When you get to the track, grab your free ticket for a chance to be Fan of the Week.

Summit USRA Nationals nears: The 9th Annual Summit USRA Nationals happens Monday through Saturday, Oct. 3-8, at the Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo.

The biggest event on dirt will kick off with an open practice on Monday, and then racing will take place every night from Tuesday through Saturday. All eight USRA-sanctioned classes will participate at one time or another during the six-day event.

The Summit Shootout also returns this year and will take place on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and feature USRA track champions and Summit Shootout qualifying race winners to compete in this one-of-a-kind blockbuster battle royale for Modified, Stock Car, B-Mod and Hobby Stock competitors.
