Great American Stock Car Challenge kicks off Aug. 23 at Southern Iowa Speedway

OSKALOOSA, Iowa -- The first ever $10,000 to win for the Stock Car class race at the Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa, IA will kick off on Monday August 23rd with racing for the Hobby Stocks and Stock Cars. Each night complete shows will be run for the Hobby Stocks and Stock Cars. With the top six cars from the feature each night qualifying for the main event on Wednesday night. This will be the first time in Iowa that this class of Stock Cars has ever run for a $10,000 to win main event. The Hobby Stock class will also be running for some big money as the winner of the main event on Wednesday night will pay $2,000 to the winner. Pro-Line Buildings from New Sharon will be the title sponsor to this race with Aero Wheels, Professional Real Estate, and Mike’s Tire and Alignment also being sponsors of this race. Monday night will be Oskaloosa Chamber of Commerce night at the races. Pit gates will open at 4pm each night with hot laps slated for 7pm each night.

On Wednesday night Modifieds will also be racing for the $600 to win feature. We have had several calls from drivers all throughout the Midwest and expect a great field of cars with more than seventy pre-entries already received. Two drivers are guaranteed starting spots in the Wednesday main event. Mark Elliott picked up the win at the Stock Car Shootout in June and Jim Lynch picked up the win at the Scotland County Speedway Stock Car Shootout two weeks ago. Pat Rachels and Mike Shelton will also be guaranteed starting spots in the Hobby Stock class with wins from the previous races.

The Southern Iowa Speedway will also have a states race for the stock car class and will also have a champions race on Monday and Tuesday night. There is also a $100 longest tow award that will be awarded on Wednesday night. Wyatt Olson looks as if he may be coming from the farthest distance away making the tow all the way from Minot, ND. Grandstands gates will open each night at 5pm.

Tickets will be $10 on Monday and Tuesday night for adults and $3 for kids 6-12. On Wednesday night tickets will be $15 for adults and $5 for kids. More than $60,000 will be paid out to drivers over the three day race. The stock car class will pay $550 to start the main event on Wednesday night, which is more than most specials even pay to win. More than 100 stock cars is expected for this event with drivers coming from seven different states.
