Donlinger tops 36-car USRA RHS Modified field at Deer Creek

SPRING VALLEY, Minn. - After a two week rain hiatus the Deer Creek Speedway sprang into action with a large field of cars and exciting racing action in all classes.

An absolutely incredible field of 36 USRA RHS Modifieds graced the speedway on this Saturday night with many heavy-hitters and some long-distance travelers making their way to the speedway.

Shane Hebert from Lafayette, La., led the first lap of the event with Derek Ramirez of Woodward, Okla., in second. Todd Scharkey moved up to race with Ramirez on lap 2 with Jason Krohn close in fourth. With four down Scharkey took over second but on the next lap Ramirez worked back into the spot.

The first caution of the event flew with 4 laps completed Herbert moved back out front on the restart with Krohn working under Ramirez for third as Scharkey held onto second. On the next lap Krohn started challenging Scharkey for second while Tim Donlinger caught Ramirez and tried getting around him for fourth.

Donlinger took the spot and with 9 laps down moved under Krohn for the third spot. With 10 completed, Donlinger and Scharkey were side by side for second. Further back Jason Cummins worked into the top 5. On lap 13, Donlinger cleared Scharkey for second as another caution flew on lap 15 eliminating Hebert's half straight lead.

On the restart Hebert led with Donlinger in second. Cummins sneaked around Scharkey for the third spot. With 19 down, Donlinger started pressuring Hebert for the lead. As lap 20 completed, Donlinger led with Cummins now working under Hebert for second. At the finish it was Donlinger, Cummins and Hebert.

Mike Jaeger led lap 1 of the USRA Karl Performance Parts B-Mod feature with Parker Hale in second and Jacob Bleess in third. Hale moved past Jaeger exiting turn 4 on the completion of lap 2 while Jason Schlangen quickly worked up to third racing with Ben Moudry for the spot. With 5 laps down, Hale continued to stay out front with a really tight pack directly behind him racing for position.

Schlangen moved into second with Dan Tenold and Jaeger side by side for third. Tenold took the spot with 8 laps completed. A restart on lap 10 saw Hale leading again with Jaeger, Tenold and Colter Deutsch racing for third. Schlangen started pressuring Hale for the lead and they raced side by side for a lap until Deutsch joined them for a three-wide race.

Deutsch took the spot with 14 laps completed. On lap 15, Scott Demmer moved into the top 5 and then with 17 laps down rolled past Jaeger and Schlangen to take over second. Demmer was flying up top now and coming out of four pulled alongside of Duetsch to take the win by .005 second in an incredible side-by-side finish.
