MEMPHIS, MO (Jan. 29, 2000) — Memphis Speedway will open its 2000 season on April 2 under the management of promoter Jack Johnson. Johnson has managed several tracks in Minnesota and currently owns Mizzou Speedway in Moberly. Memphis Speedway will be running every Sunday night beginning at 6:05 with open modifieds, B-modifieds, hobby stocks and 2-man cruiser classes. Practice day for Memphis Speedway will be on Sunday March 26th.

Mizzou Speedway will hold their drivers meeting and registration on Feb. 12, at noon at the National Guard Armory in Moberly. Practice day has been set for March 25th with opening night or races at the Moberly track set for April 1, beginning at 7:35 p.m. Johnson said a new motorsports shop has been constructed on the grounds at Mizzou Speedway.

"Attendance was up darn near 20 percent over the year before," Johnson said. "It looks better this year. Of course, the car count, we had on the average over 100 cars each week last year."

Both Mizzou Speedway and Memphis Speedway are sanctioned by Midwest Open Division Championship Auto Racing, MODCAR.
