Stock Car Special at Upper Iowa Speedway Aug. 13

DECORAH, Iowa -- The Upper Iowa Speedway will host a special event for USRA Karl Chevrolet Stock Cars on Saturday, Aug. 13, promoter Chuck Ihde announced this week.

Sponsored by Fisk's Farm & Home Stores in Cresco and Monona, the event will feature a 35-lap main event with a $600 top prize up for grabs and a unique twist will be in store for drivers and fans.

The feature race will have a break at the halfway points where drivers and their crews will have 10 minutes to make any adjustments to their racecars that can be done on the racetrack.

The leader at halfway will get two American Racer racing tires while second- and third-place drivers will each get one.

Drivers will draw/redraw for starting positions. Officials will roll dice and invert up to the top six rows.

The main event payout is as follows: 1. $600, 2. $400, 3. $300, 4. $250, 5. $190, 6. $155, 7. $145, 8. $135, 9. $125, 10. $115, 11. $105, 12. $100, 13. $100, 14. $95, 15. $95, 16. $90, 17. $90, 18. $80.

There is no entry fee and American Racer USRA Weekly Racing Series national and track points will be awarded.

The Upper Iowa Speedway is a 1/4-mile semi-banked clay oval located 1.8 miles east of US 52 on SR 9, then 1.0 mile northwest on Montgomery St., then northeast on E.
