Title chase hitting home stretch at Springfield Raceway

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The chase for the track championship at the Springfield Raceway is coming down to the wire as only two weeks of points racing remains before the Speedway goes into those super special events of the season.

Total High Speed Wireless will be the title sponsor for this Saturday night's activities as the USRA RHS Modifieds plus four other exciting classes do battle on the high banks.

Four-time USRA RHS Modified track champion Jackie Dalton of Carthage leads a very talented field of drivers, and coming off a feature win last weekend in the Rob Burgess Tribute is still on top of the points standings with an 85-point lead over Springfield's hometown hard-charging Erik Maggard.

Dalton currently stands tenth in the American Racer USRA Weekly Racing Series national points heading into the weekend events.

Maggard is only 25 markers ahead of defending champion Mitch Keeter while Jody Tillman and Brian Green remain in the top 5.

The USRA RHS Modified competition at Springfield is as tough as anywhere around.

Grandstand gates open at 5 p.m. with hot laps starting at 6:30 and racing at 7:15.
