Springfield Raceway to sanction Larry Phillips Memorial, Bordertown Casino events

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Springfield Raceway owners Jerry Hoffman and Doug Bland have announced today that the quick quarter-mile will sanction the USRA RHS Modifieds for American Racer USRA Weekly Racing Series national points both the Larry Phillips Memorial on Saturday, Oct. 1, and the high-paying Bordertown Casino OctoberFast on Saturday, Oct. 15.

The Larry Phillips Memorial, which was rained-out last Saturday, will pay $500 to win with $100 to start while the final numbers for the Bordertown Casino event are being finalized.

Last year the Bordertown Casino Octoberfast paid $1,111 to win and $275 to start and looks to be even better this season.

Webb City driver Scott Drake and Jody Tillman battled door to door for the final nine laps before Drake was able to capture a hard-earned victory last season.

The Bordertown Casino Octoberfast event is just four days before the high-paying King of America Modified Nationals at the Humboldt Speedway, and with the USRA sanction in place, this should even draw more cars than normal.

More information on both events are forthcoming.
