Iron Man Challenge invades I-35 Speedway this Sunday

WINSTON, Mo. -- Both the USRA Stock Cars and USRA B-Mods will be in action this Sunday, March 25, when the Iron Man Challenge accompanies the USMTS Modifieds to the I-35 Speedway in Winston, Mo., for the Annual Yancy’s Automotive Missouri Meltdown.

This will be the third visit to 3/8-mile clay oval in Winston. Last season, Matt Greiner (Stock Cars) and Matt Lettow (B-Mods) captured the season-opening checkers for the Iron Man Challenge. Veteran Steve Jackson topped the Stock Cars when the series returned in August while local favorite Mike Higley scored the win in the B-Mod main event.

Pit and grandstand gates will open at 2 p.m. on Sunday, with hot laps at 5 and racing at 5:30. The I-35 Speedway is located 10 miles north of Cameron on SR 6 (exit 64). For more information, call the track at 660-749-5317 or visit www.i-35speedway.net online.

USRA Stock Cars will be racing for $700 to win and $125 to start both nights while USRA B-Mods will battle for $500 to win and $80. Tow money for non-qualifiers will be $75 and $50, respectively.

There is no requirement to purchase a USRA license to compete in the Iron Man Challenge, but licensed drivers in each class will get $10 off the $30 entry fee each night. The cost of a USRA license is $100 for Stock Cars and $90 for B-Mods, and comes with a piece-of-mind $100,000 insurance policy and track and national points funds unmatched in grassroots dirt track racing.

Last season 367 tough-as-nails drivers took part in the Iron Man Challenge, including 237 different B-Mod drivers and 130 Stock Car competitors.

The third season for the Iron Man Challenge boasts 26 dates at 13 popular dirt ovals in 6 states. On the calendar are 24 shows for USRA B-Mods and 15 for the full-fendered USRA Stock Cars. Both classes will race together on 14 nights while B-Mods will have 10 solo nights and Stock Cars will have 2 nights to themselves.
