WINONA, Minn. -- Race fans will have to wait just a little bit longer to finally see all the new hardware for the 2013 racing season as Mississippi Thunder Speedway has decided to reschedule the 2013 car show for Saturday, April 20.

“Some racers do not quite have their stuff ready yet, and to be honest, it is just soo cold yet,” explained track owner Bob Timm. “I think we’ll kind of lose the racing feeling if we’re all standing around in snow suits.

“I do feel, though, that if I wait until it warms up a bit we will get more people stopping in. And with the new date being only a single weekend before our scheduled season opener, I think we can build a bunch of hype and excitement at this year’s car show and carry that fan involvement right through the following week and into our season opener on the 26th.”

As in years past, the first steps to an energetic upcoming racing season will begin with the official unveiling of racing equipment at Mississippi Thunder Speedway’s annual pre-season car show and swap meet.

Beginning bright and early Saturday morning, April 20, and continuing until around 2 p.m., the 2013 Mississippi Thunder Speedway Car Show & Swap Meet will be held at Sugarloaf Ford (on the sunny side of Highway 61).

While the new 2013 hot rods are being unveiled to the race fans inside the warmth of the spacious Sugar Loaf Ford Service Center garage area, the north end of the Sugar Loaf Ford car lot will be opened up for the car show and swap meet.

Racers who want to sell parts are welcome to set up outside in the north lot. The swap meet is free and open for everyone and runs the same time as the car show.

In addition to the on-site swap meet, Mississippi Thunder Speedway is helping local racers spread the word of any parts they may be selling by offering a classifieds section on the official Mississippi Thunder Speedway website at www.mississippithunder.com.

As in years past, pop and hot dogs compliments of Hy-Vee of Winona and the Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Winona will be served for all in attendance while supplies last.
