Chateau Raceway’s Brew Pub Pizza Bonus climbs to $1,500

LANSING, Minn. -- The Chateau Raceway in Lansing, Minn., and Brew Pub Pizza have offered the USRA Modified drivers who redraw the front row for the feature events this season a shot at the “Brew Pub Pizza Front Row Challenge.”

There has also been a new twist added to that challenge.

The new bonus program is the brainchild of Bernatello’s sales representative, Bob Braaten, and it gives the front row starters of the USRA Modified feature a choice to start at the back of the feature event. Then, if a driver can race their way from the back and win the race, that driver will take home the bonus money.

Each week the front row starters of the USRA Modified will be given the chance to start in the final row and try to win from the back. If one of those two drivers accomplishes the feat, they will collect the bonus money from Brew Pub Pizza. If the drivers choose to keep their positions or are unsuccessful in the challenge the bonus will increase by $100 each week until it is claimed. When the bonus is collected, it will start over at $500 the following week.

A new twist was put into effect on July 19 to add a little more excitement to the challenge. If there are 16 or more USRA Modifieds in attendance, not only the drivers that redraw the front row have a shot, each heat race winner will have the option of starting at the back of the feature.

If the drivers choose to keep their positions or are unsuccessful in the challenge the bonus will increase by $100 each week until it is claimed. When the bonus is collected, it will start over at $500 the following week. The bonus climbs to $1,500 this Friday, Aug. 9, and when you add the $600 winner purse to that, it is a potential $2,100 payday.

To date only three drivers have attempted the challenge. On July 19, Brandon Davis and Keith Foss gave it a shot. Davis raced from 15th and came up just short when he finished second to Todd Scharkey, while Foss finished fourth after he started 14th. Last Friday, two-time track champion Jason Cummins accepted the challenge and finished sixth at the checkered flag.
