Schrader enters April 11-12 USRA Modified event at Lucas Oil Speedway

WHEATLAND, Mo. -- NASCAR Sprint Cup race winner Ken Schrader will compete at Lucas Oil Speedway in the Pitts Homes USRA Modifieds on April 11-12, part of the 1st Annual My Fox 22 Lucas Oil MLRA Spring Nationals Presented by RacingJunk.com weekend.

The 58-year-old from Fenton, Mo., is one of America's busiest race car drivers, annually approaching 100 events. He expects to run 70 to 75 modified events and has 10 ARCA stock car and one NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event scheduled this year.

The April 11-12 event will be Schrader's first at Lucas Oil Speedway since Lucas Oil owner Forrest Lucas purchased and transformed it into "The Diamond of Dirt Tracks" for the 2006 season.

"When you talk about short tracks in the country, there are only three or four that set the bar for being fancy and Lucas Oil Speedway is in that class," Schrader said. "I've driven by it, but never gone inside since Mr. Lucas did everything and I'm thrilled to go there and run a couple of modified races."

Schrader has 980 combined starts in NASCAR's three national divisions, 763 in Sprint Cup. He has four wins in Sprint Cup. Schrader has thousands of starts on short tracks with many types of cars in his career. He's most active in modifieds these days.

"I think I ran 66 modified races last year," Schrader said. "I like racing and am not ready to quit. It's like playing golf for me. I like running the modified because the rules are in line in all the different series. Two years ago, I raced modifieds in 22 states."
